Background

       Occupational Safety issue plays an important role to a national social and economic development and also shows Thailand’s competency in the global community. Ministry of Labour has restructured the organization and an authority of Department of Labour Protection and Welfare by merging Occupational Safety, and Environment Inspection Division and National Institute for the Improvement of Working Conditions and Environment, into Occupational Safety and Health Bureau. The objectives of its establishment are to support the mission on the occupational safety, health and environment management with more systematic and effective, to facilitate its services by decentralizing to 12 Area Offices for Occupational Safety and Health, to decrease the redundancy safety, to emphasize on the network participation as well as to act as the host agency for the national agenda driven on “decent safety and health for employees” to achieve the ultimate outcomes. The establishment of Occupational Safety and Health Bureau declared in the Government Gazette and has come into force since 11 December 2009



Authorities and Functions
1. to set up and develop occupational, safety and health standard,
2. to monitor employers, workers, individual, juristic person to agencies involved to comply with the law concerning occupational safety, health and environment,
3. to provide services on an authorization, a registration and a standard’s supervision of services concerning occupational safety, health and environment,
4. to develop a system for occupational safety, health and environment protection, measures and inspection practices, 
5. to develop an information technology system on occupational safety, health and environment, 
6. to study, analyze, research, promote and develop occupational safety, health and environment,
7. to promote and develop occupational safety, health and environment networks, and 
8. to work with or support any involved agency’s functions or any work assigned.
